A BRIEF HISTORY OF HCHC BEGINNINGS

Mar 2005-2006

Herald Christian Clinic Fundraising Campaign

“10-10-10”: 10 healthcare professionals from the community pledged to donate $10,000 each within 10 days to support the establishment of the San Gabriel clinic

“325”: 300 parties pledged to donate $2,000 each year for 5 years to support the operation of the clinic.

March 2007

Herald Christian Health Center Established

The first HCHC in San Gabriel  was established and began to serve the community.

Jul 2009

Joined the “Child Health & Disability Prevention

HCHC joined the “Child Health & Disability Prevention” (CHDP) Program to deliver periodic health assessments and services to low income children and youth in California

Joined the “Every Woman Counts” (EWC) Cancer Detection Program to offer free breast exams, mammograms, and pap smear exams

Joined the “Vaccines for Children” (VFC) Program, a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of inability to pay

Mar 2010

Public Private Partnership

HCHC became a provider for “Public Private Partnership” (PPP) Program to provide no cost care to those who are low-income and uninsured

June 2011

San Gabriel Clinic Expansion Premise

Expanded the San Gabriel clinic to the adjacent building to accommodate clinic growth

Feb 2013

Designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center

HCHC was funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to operate as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)

Joined the “Healthy Way LA” (HWLA) Program, a county program that provided the low income and uninsured population with no cost care

Became a Covered CA Certified Enrollment Entity

June 2014

340B, MHLA and HWLA Program

HCHC joined the “340B” Drug Pricing Program, a federal program aiming at maintaining services and lowering medication costs for patients.

Joined the “My Health LA” (MHLA) Program, formerly “Healthy Way LA” (HWLA) program

March 2015

COI Clinic

City of Industry opened

Rosemead Clinic

Rosemead opened new clinic

March 2016

Additional Clinic Services

Added Optometry services in Rosemead and added Behavioral Health services to all locations

San Diego Clinic

Established a clinic in San Diego

Administered over 50,000 COVID-19 vaccinations in the San Gabriel Valley

Established headquarters and opened a new clinic with Acupuncture and Pediatric services in El Monte

Partnered with Garvey School District to open a school based clinic

San Diego Clinic Relocation

Relocated San Diego clinic to a larger space for patient population growth

March 2023

El Monte Clinic

Renovated a 15000 sq. ft. space in El Monte clinic to create a flagship clinic housing clinical and social services

San Diego Clinic 2nd Relocation

Relocated 2nd time San Diego clinic to a larger space for patient population growth

El Sereno clinic opened
